Michael Barough

As we step into the new year, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the journey Oxford Flow has undertaken in the past year and to cast an eye towards the promising horizon of 2024. 2023 was a landmark period for both our company and the industry at large, marked by both significant technological strides and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.

Paving the way forward

ES Stemless Valve Triumphs ADNOC Decarbonisation Challenge COP28 UAE

As 2023 drew to a close, Oxford Flow was recognised by ADNOC for our groundbreaking ES stemless valve at the COP28 in the UAE. Oxford Flow was awarded a commendation that not only honours our team’s hard work but also reaffirms our commitment to decarbonisation technology. This recognition was a highlight in a year filled with collaborative efforts, like our partnership with SGN in the LTS Futures Project, where we played a pivotal role in advancing hydrogen-ready gas networks and successful partnerships with the likes of Koso Kent Introl (KKI), that have allowed us to reach new regions and markets.

With our roots firmly planted in innovation and our commitment to developing first-in-class solutions that go above and beyond the industry norm, last year saw us build on our existing product ranges, gain certifications and launch new products, something that will continue into the coming months. This included the first in a series of high and low-pressure pilots for use with our IM-S gas regulators. This expansion is a testament to our dedication to innovation and client-focused solutions. Furthermore, we also validated the hydrogen-readiness of the IM-S regulator for use with hydrogen and hydrogen blending scenarios. Whilst always being developed with use with hydrogen in mind, this testing has allowed us to prove without question the design’s suitability for long term use with hydrogen and other volatile gases. This could not have been more perfectly timed with the government announcing funding for green hydrogen projects and supporting the use of hydrogen blending in certain scenarios towards the end of the year.

The IM-S was not the only tool that underwent significant testing and certification though this year. Our award-winning ES stemless valve not only received industry recognition for its zero emission capability, but also underwent and achieved its ATEX certification in high hazard zones. This year also saw us venturing into the design and production of gas silencers and diffusers, further showcasing our versatility in the gas system infrastructure – all of which is a reflection of our commitment to leading-edge design and precision engineering.

Looking ahead to 2024

The gas distribution industry in 2023 witnessed significant transitions, with an increased focus on sustainability and emissions control. Industry-wide efforts to incorporate hydrogen-ready networks and advanced emission control technologies played a crucial role in shaping the landscape, mirroring our own initiatives at Oxford Flow.

As we look forward to 2024, Oxford Flow is positioned for global expansion, with an emphasis on local partnerships in regions such as Brazil, Mexico, and Eastern Asia. This strategy not only extends our global reach but also aligns with our commitment to reducing operational carbon footprint, globally.

Our ongoing product development is geared towards emission elimination, reinforcing our stance on decarbonisation. The planned mass deployment of our ES stemless valve with major NOCs and GDNs is set to be a milestone, further cementing our role as leaders in emission elimination

The introduction of a solution for ERS Modules in 2024 is poised to resolve significant industry challenges, strengthening our position as innovators. Alongside this, the continued expansion of our gas pilot range and the development of intelligent and smart technology will ensure that Oxford Flow remains at the forefront of industry trends, providing efficient, adaptable, and cutting-edge solutions.

Our achievements in 2023 and our plans for 2024 are not just milestones for Oxford Flow; they represent our dedication to progress and responsiveness to the evolving needs of our clients and industries. We look forward to the positive impact these initiatives will have on shaping the future of industrial solutions and are excited to keep you updated as we continue to drive innovation in the coming year.
